The Main Meeting is a general meeting for all computer hobbyists and enthusiasts. There is usually a guest speaker to present a topic of general interest.

Topics are brainstormed and scheduled at the annual club Planning Meeting (open to all members in good standing). The current list can be downloaded here.

Please note there are no Main Meetings during the months of July and August (summer hiatus) and sometimes September (Labor Day Holiday).

The Mobile Devices SIG focuses largely on current-generation cellphones and smartphones (such as Blackberry, Android, iPhone) which bridge the gap between basic cell phones and traditional computers, and how they can help you manage and organize your life. Our membership is diverse, ranging from those who have recently acquired their first, basic cellphone to those who develop applications for today's modern smartphones, iPods, and ultraportable computers. While we expect to spend much of our time investigating the built-in features and specialized applications available to modern smartphones, if you bring your basic (or multimedia) cell phone, iPod, or other mobile device with questions on how to use it, where to find applications, or what features they have, we are always happy to help!

The general format for all meetings will be on the order of:

• Random Access
• Main Activity/Activities
• Beginners' Corner
• Topic of the Day: Application, Operating System, Device Highlights
• Developer/Expert Corner
• Topic for next meeting
• Any activities to schedule between now and next meeting
• Close

This is subject to change based on the audience/participant makeup -- I can see this going anywhere from adding half-day courses on basic cell phone operation (for which I expect mostly senior citizens) to workshops (either within the activity or scheduled separately) on using particular operating systems (Blackberry, Android, WebOS, iOS, Windows Mobile, etc.) to discussions of applications and classes of applications (OS-independent/agnostic) and onwards...

History

The inaugural Mobile Device meeting was held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010. The agenda was to meet and greet and plan a path forward, i.e., what attendees were expecting from participating in these meetings. Attendees were encouraged to bring all their ideas, PDAs, fancy phones, etc.

Description

Members of the Computerized Investing Special Interest Group range from new would-be-buyers of computers to programmers that started by soldering/making their own computers. Investing experience varies from "I'm just getting interested" to those that have been investing for over 40 years. The common denominator is an interest in investing. All are welcome.

The group has a typical attendance of 10 - 15 with about 140 members. Jim has published a very thorough and thoughtful article on the concepts of Personal Criteria Formulas (PCFs) and how to use them for scanning stock charts with the Worden TC2000 charting platform. The concepts, however, are applicable to developing and using scans on any other charting platform. He has graciously given permission to access them for your personal use. Remember, this is his personal property and his permission should not be abused. A link to the document can be found on his website, which is linked below.

History

The previous chairperson, Norm Wiss, facilitated the group until he had to resign for health reasons in October 2006. He was still active in investing with the Best Choice Users Group until he passed away in January 2014.

NJ Gamers is an ACGNJ special interest group (SIG) dedicated to LAN gaming. LAN games are computer games that allow players to interact over a network. They can be played on the Internet, but perform better on a LAN where ping times are low. The ping is important because you interact with the other players in real time. These gamers pack up their computer, monitor, etc. and drag it to the nearest LAN Party to play LAN games with hundreds of players. Think of it as a virtual game of paint ball...where your opponents explode!

Since players must bring their computers to play, setup starts around 6:00pm. This should provide some time for setup and break down of the equipment and still have some time for fun. But the LAN Party doesn't start until 10:00pm. Please e-mail if you plan to attend. All things necessary for the game are on the check list below. Directions are on the directions page. The Web Browsers SIG debuted on Monday, January 15^th, 2007 to be an open forum for all Firefox and Mozilla techniques and technologies, to encourage the study and development of web sites of all kinds.

The intent is to provide the members with Windows-oriented application discussions in both Microsoft and Linux style. The presentation will be directed toward the more heavy technological level of attendee, although newbies are, of course, welcome to attend. The Tech Talk Meeting is a general meeting for all computer hobbyists and enthusiasts. There is usually a guest speaker to present a topic of general interest. Topics are brainstormed and scheduled at the annual club Planning Meeting (open to all members in good standing). The current list can be downloaded here. Depending on when TCF is scheduled, there may not be a Tech Talk meeting in March.

History

This meeting is the combination of the older PC Symposium, PC User Group, and Random Access Session which are now defunct. Tech Talk has been operating since {{ date }} and replaced the old PC Symposium.
